Commercial Counsel (Legal) | Hybrid in Oakland, CA

About the Role

Fivetran and dbt Labs are joining forces to help organizations unlock the full value of their data. As Commercial Counsel, you’ll support the commercial side of the business by advising on agreements and deal terms that enable customers to move, transform, and trust their data.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate customer and partner agreements, including commercial and SaaS-related contracts
• Advise internal teams on contract terms, risk allocation, and business/legal tradeoffs
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely deal execution
• Help develop and refine contracting playbooks, templates, and standard language
• Support compliance and operational processes related to contracting and customer onboarding

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar admission (or equivalent legal authorization to practice in the U.S.)
• Strong experience with commercial contracting, preferably in a technology or SaaS environment
• Excellent judgment and negotiation skills with a practical, business-minded approach
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and partner effectively with cross-functional teams
• Clear, concise communication and strong attention to detail
