About the Role
Newscape Studios, Inc. is looking for freelance 2D Background Artists to help create production-ready environments for our YouTube animation channels. You’ll work on backgrounds and props designed for a young audience, supporting content inspired by popular games and original animations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an organized, efficient workflow throughout production
- Fully finalize 2D environments and background props for use in the pipeline
- Meet daily production quotas during the production week (approximately 25 environments per week, depending on skill)
- Adapt to different background styles as required by each project
- Collaborate with the team and communicate progress clearly
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
- Experience with Procreate and/or Illustrator is a plus
- Solid understanding of composition, perspective, color theory, light, and form
- Ability to work effectively with a team and follow direction
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail to ensure consistency
- Toon Boom knowledge is a plus (not required)
- Portfolio required for consideration
Compensation & Work Details
- Competitive pay: $800 per production week
- Independent contractor (freelance) position
- Remote / work from home
- Artists with an LLC are preferred but not required
