About the Role
Firefly is building hardware-enabled workplace safety infrastructure that combines real-time location, AI-native software, and rugged IoT devices. We’re looking for a full-stack engineer to help design and ship features that detect safety issues and deliver help exactly when and where it’s needed.
You’ll join a fast-growing team supporting 10+ live paying customer sites across schools, universities, and frontline workplaces. This role reports to our Co-Founder & CTO, Alex Penn.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain end-to-end product features across web and backend services
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver improvements to safety workflows
- Work with real-time and location-driven data to support responsive user experiences
- Implement reliable APIs, services, and data flows with strong attention to quality
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and ongoing performance and reliability improvements
Requirements
- Proven full-stack experience shipping production software
- Strong fundamentals in backend development and web application development
- Experience building with modern frameworks and building maintainable, scalable systems
- Comfort working in a startup environment and iterating quickly
- Visa sponsorship available on a case-by-case basis
Benefits
- Base compensation: $180,000–$230,000 annually
- Equity: 0.1%–0.5% (depending on level and fit)
- On-site role in NYC (Flatiron)
