About the Role
MatX is building AI systems that run as efficiently as physics allows, enabling a step-change in AI quality and availability. We’re looking for a hands-on Lab Manager to run day-to-day operations for our high-speed electrical and optical test lab in Mountain View, CA. You’ll help keep the lab clean, organized, and fully stocked while supporting engineers with reliable test infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily lab operations, organization, and infrastructure for high-speed electrical/optical testing
- Maintain and prepare equipment, including troubleshooting and supporting board rework
- Manage bench organization, inventory, and lab logistics
- Support remote engineers with practical guidance and hands-on follow-through
- Handle procurement and coordinate purchasing for lab supplies and components
- Contribute to lab setup planning, including floor/bench layout as needed
Requirements
- Hands-on experience maintaining lab equipment and supporting technical troubleshooting
- Comfort with soldering and fine-pitch component work, including board rework
- Experience working with high-speed test and measurement tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs) is a plus
- Strong organization skills and a commitment to maintaining a clean, well-structured lab
- Ability to balance facilities/logistics responsibilities with technical support
