About the Role
Zipline is building the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably across multiple continents. As a Mechanical Design Engineer for Droid SMI, you’ll help design the mechanical components and systems that support our drone operations and help us expand access to essentials like food and medicine.
Responsibilities
- Design and iterate mechanical components and assemblies for drone logistics systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into manufacturable designs
- Support testing and troubleshooting by analyzing mechanical performance and design constraints
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings and design specifications
- Work with manufacturing and engineering partners to improve build quality and reliability
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical design with a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency using CAD tools and creating production-ready documentation
- Ability to work through design tradeoffs involving materials, tolerances, and reliability
- Comfort collaborating with hardware, test, and operations teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
