About the Role
Scout Motors is seeking an OBD Requirements Engineer to lead the development of requirements for a generic scan tool. In this role, you’ll help translate vehicle diagnostics needs into clear, testable requirements that support electrified and range-extended powertrains.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive OBD-related requirements for a generic scan tool
- Translate system and stakeholder needs into detailed, verifiable requirement statements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure diagnostic features align with vehicle architecture
- Support validation planning by defining acceptance criteria and traceability
- Review requirements for completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable diagnostic standards
- Contribute to troubleshooting and refinement of requirements based on test outcomes
Requirements
- Experience working with OBD/vehicle diagnostics requirements and documentation
- Strong understanding of diagnostic communication concepts and diagnostic data flows
- Ability to create requirements that are testable and maintain strong traceability
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with software, systems, and validation teams
- Proficiency with requirements management tools and structured engineering processes
