About the Role
Psychology Today is launching a new interview-style podcast focused on psychology, behavioral science, and the culture around it. We’re looking for a podcaster and content creator to help shape this editorial product from the ground up—owning the show’s direction, voice, and growth.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop episode topics, then plan and outline conversations
- Pitch and shape new episode ideas and formats with strong editorial judgment and creativity
- Identify, research, and book guests, including bloggers and subject-matter experts
- Prepare for each episode with background research, question development, and brief pre-interview calls
- Maintain a clear guest pipeline and calendar (topics, upcoming guests, and scheduling status)
- Support social media packaging and clipping of podcast moments across Psychology Today’s channels
Requirements
- Proven podcasting experience—share platforms, shows, or projects you’ve hosted, produced, or built
- Strong writing and editing fundamentals, with familiarity with SEO and content management systems to maximize show-note reach
- Comfort speaking on mic and/or on camera with engaging presence
- Background in behavioral science, translational science writing, or clinical/research psychology is a plus; strong journalism experience is also welcome
- Ability to collaborate with producers/editors on episode direction and quality (while not being responsible for editing or technical production)
Compensation & How to Apply
This is a contract position with no benefits. Compensation is $2,000/month based on a weekly episode cadence (about 4 episodes per month), plus ongoing guest-booking responsibilities.
To apply, submit a brief cover letter that explains how you’d approach the editorial conversation and includes kick-off questions, plus a summary of your podcasting experience with links or samples.
