About the Role
Join the GRaF (Grading and Feedback) team to build and maintain backend services that power grading and feedback experiences. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you’ll design scalable, high-performance systems using AWS Lambda and related serverless technologies, helping optimize our architecture for both performance and cost. You’ll partner closely with QA, Product, UX, and Support to deliver reliable features end to end.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop robust, scalable backend services using AWS Lambda
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven workflows
- Improve the performance and cost efficiency of existing services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with frontend applications
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Perform code reviews and mentor team members
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience with serverless patterns (AWS Lambda)
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and/or event-driven systems
- Proficiency with CI/CD practices, including GitHub Actions
- Ability to collaborate effectively with product and QA teams
- Experience reviewing code and supporting engineering best practices
