Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded) | Onsite in New York, NY

Embedded Firmware BLE Connectivity Low-Power Design

About the Role

Join a small, high-velocity hardware team building the firmware for a next-generation consumer wearable platform. In this founding embedded role, you’ll help shape the firmware architecture and guide a category-defining device from prototype through mass production. The work blends low-power embedded design, biometric sensor integration, BLE connectivity, and the production engineering needed to ship reliable, long-life wearables.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY, working closely with an NYC team across hardware, algorithms, product, and industrial design.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded firmware for battery-powered wearable devices.
  • Own core firmware systems for low-power wireless connectivity, sensor processing, and data pipelines.
  • Design and optimize firmware performance to meet power, latency, and reliability targets.
  • Collaborate with hardware and algorithms teams to integrate biometric sensors and validate end-to-end behavior.
  • Support production readiness by improving stability, diagnostics, and manufacturability of the firmware.

Requirements

  • Strong embedded firmware experience for battery-powered devices.
  • Hands-on experience with BLE or other low-power wireless technologies.
  • Experience integrating and processing data from biometric or sensor hardware.
  • Proficiency with embedded C/C++ and typical embedded development workflows.
  • Comfort working across the prototype-to-production lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to build firmware at an early stage and directly influence product direction.
  • On-site collaboration with a cross-functional engineering team in NYC.
  • Chance to work on low-power, real-world wearable challenges from architecture through scale.
