About the Role

Redwood Materials is seeking a Staff Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Electrical Design Engineer to join our EPC team. In this role, you’ll help design scalable, high-performance energy storage infrastructure supporting utility-scale and distributed applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design activities for BESS projects from concept through detailed engineering
  • Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables for EPC execution
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability targets
  • Support design reviews, technical assessments, and issue resolution during project delivery
  • Contribute to documentation, standards alignment, and continuous improvement of engineering processes

Requirements

  • Proven experience in electrical design engineering for power systems and/or energy storage projects
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale electrical infrastructure and BESS design considerations
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and technical requirements
  • Experience collaborating with EPC, construction, and commissioning stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
