About the Role
Fastly is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Edge Application Engineering team. In this role, you’ll help build and scale the Image Optimizer product—making images and video load faster across the web for Fastly’s customers by running at the edge.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop edge-based services that improve image and video performance
- Collaborate with engineers and product partners to deliver reliable, secure customer experiences
- Contribute to architecture decisions for programmable, modern internet platforms
- Improve performance, scalability, and operational excellence for edge workloads
- Support agile development practices across the engineering lifecycle
Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience building production systems
- Experience with performance-focused engineering and distributed systems principles
- Comfort working in environments that require reliability and security at scale
- Proven ability to design solutions and collaborate across teams
