Backend Developer (AI Neobank) | Remote (India-based)

About the Role

BJAK is building smarter financial products through its AI Neobank app, and we’re looking for backend engineers to develop the core systems that power onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, transfers, and more. You’ll help design and run reliable APIs and workflows that can scale across markets, partners, and millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, transfers, rewards, travel, FX, KYC, and risk flows
• Design dependable systems that support real customer transactions and operational workflows
• Integrate with internal platforms, financial partners, payment providers, AI services, and third-party systems
• Own backend quality across reliability, security, latency, observability, data integrity, and incident response
• Partner with product, frontend, mobile, and AI teams to ship features quickly and safely
• Continuously improve existing services by simplifying flows, removing manual steps, and automating repeatable processes

Requirements

• Proven backend engineering experience in production environments
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, authentication and authorization, queues, background jobs, events, and integrations
• Experience building services used by real customers or internal operations at meaningful scale
• Strong debugging, reliability, security, and data-quality mindset
• Ability to make practical trade-offs across speed, correctness, scalability, and maintainability
• Fintech, payments, banking, KYC, fraud, or risk experience is a plus (not required if you have strong fundamentals)
