About the Role

Join the Princess Team at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club as a Building Operator Level One, reporting to the Director of Engineering. In this role, you’ll help ensure the resort’s building systems and utilities run safely, efficiently, and to standard—while delivering proactive, guest-focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, engaging, and proactive service to guests and colleagues
  • Support performance standards and use performance management principles to improve productivity
  • Assist guests with information about property facilities and respond promptly to service requests
  • Maintain physical operations for propane gas equipment, plumbing, water treatment and supply, laundry systems, and utilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, documenting work and resolving issues according to equipment requirements
  • Monitor and support cost-effective energy management, including the hotel’s Energy Management Systems (EMS)
  • Conduct inspections of facility areas and perform maintenance or service as needed
  • Test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions; dismantle and reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs
  • Assist with inventory control for designated supplies and maintain vendor relationships
  • Support compliance with building code requirements and health, fire, and life safety programs
  • Follow OSHA and safety practices, including MSDS and emergency procedures
  • Participate in energy management, emergency preparedness, occupational health & safety, and environmental programs
  • Follow all health and safety training and work practices, including during public health events
  • Perform other engineering-related duties and training as assigned

Requirements

  • 1st Class Power Engineering is preferred; if not certified, ability to obtain certification within the hotel’s required timeframe
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; degree/diploma in engineering, building management, mechanics, or related trade certification is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar luxury hotel building operations role
  • Knowledge of building systems and testing equipment with sound technical judgment
  • Health & Safety certification and adherence to emergency procedures, hurricane preparedness, loss prevention protocols, WHMIS, and MSDS
  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire requirements, and health department regulations
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering and building blueprints
  • Proven leadership and team development skills
  • Strong organizational, project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy, excellent interpersonal skills, and clear communication
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with energy and facilities technology
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Ability to work in extreme weather and high-noise environments, and use hazardous machinery as required
