Controller (Financial Leadership) | Hybrid | Nonprofit Accounting

About the Role

Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and partnering closely with the CFO, you’ll ensure accurate records, reliable internal controls, and timely management and financial statements. This is a hybrid role with 1–2 days working from home.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all general accounting functions, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
• Prepare, review, and deliver monthly financial statements and management reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and accounting documentation
• Manage and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting leadership with responsibility for financial close and reporting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate general ledger processes and reconcile accounts
• Experience working with senior finance leaders and cross-functional teams
