Crew Leader (Water Utilities) - Senior Lead Worker | Onsite | City of Dallas

About the Role

The City of Dallas is hiring a Crew Leader to lead medium to large crews supporting Dallas Water Utilities and related city infrastructure. In this role, you’ll coordinate daily work, provide on-site training, and help ensure maintenance and repair projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard across multiple job sites.

Responsibilities

• Organize, prepare, and issue daily work assignments while ensuring safe and efficient work procedures are followed
• Lead and support crew members by setting work pace, delegating tasks, and providing job and safety training
• Ensure required plans, materials, tools, and supplies are available; maintain records of expenses, work orders, schedules, and attendance
• Perform and/or lead preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs, including verifying cleanliness and readiness
• Assign cleanup and general maintenance activities to keep work sites, facilities, and buildings clean and safe
• Drive City trucks to transport workers, materials, and equipment to and from job sites
• Handle citizen concerns and help provide prompt, professional solutions and information
• Support emergency response during storm events as an on-call crew member to help clear storm damage debris
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Four (4) years of experience working with a variety of machines and equipment in a large municipality or complex infrastructure, performing general labor across trades
• Supervisory or lead experience is highly preferred
• Knowledge of safety procedures, including OSHA and other safety regulations
• Ability to operate specialized equipment and work extended hours, often in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to read charts, follow verbal and written instructions, and maintain written records
• Strong communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Texas CDL requirements may apply by assignment (CDL Class A or B depending on division); applicants may need to obtain a Texas CDL within the probationary period
• Movement Area Certification for Aviation is required (where applicable)
• TCEQ licensing for DWU may be required (where applicable)
