About the Role
Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) builds the infrastructure and foundational technologies behind Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud mission. We support more than 200 online services worldwide—spanning cloud infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability—so customers and partners can rely on a trusted experience.
As cloud demand grows, the ability to bring new hardware and offerings to market on time, at high volume and quality, and at the lowest cost becomes critical. In this role, you’ll help design and deliver firmware that powers large-scale cloud systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain firmware for cloud hardware and infrastructure components
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software teams to define requirements and interfaces
- Debug issues across firmware and platform layers to ensure reliable operation at scale
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tooling, and validation
- Document designs and support validation activities throughout the release lifecycle
Requirements
- Experience building firmware in C/C++ and/or similar low-level languages
- Strong understanding of embedded systems concepts and hardware-software interaction
- Proficiency with debugging tools and workflows for embedded/firmware environments
- Experience with version control and collaborative development practices
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams delivering production-quality results
