About the Role
Fortune Brands Innovations (FBIN) is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Connected Products team. In this role, you will set the mechanical design strategy for connected consumer electronics—partnering from early concept through mass production while mentoring a team of mechanical engineers.
You’ll make key mechanical architecture decisions and provide senior technical leadership across multiple programs, guiding projects through EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP stages.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive mechanical design strategy for connected products from concept to mass production
- Mentor and develop mechanical engineers; shape technical execution and engineering culture
- Lead design decisions and technical direction across multiple concurrent programs
- Guide projects through prototyping, validation, DFM, and development phases (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP)
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, and scalable
Requirements
- Significant experience in consumer electronics mechanical design
- Proven track record shipping consumer electronic products at scale
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle stages (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP)
- Ability to provide technical authority and influence design outcomes across programs
- Experience mentoring or leading engineering talent
