About the Role
IS International Services is hiring a Senior BESS Electrical Engineer to lead engineering and technical review for utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This fully remote role owns the electrical design lifecycle—from early concept through execution—while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing renewable energy assets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review utility-scale electrical engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), overall electrical layouts, grounding designs, and cable routing plans
- Own electrical design integration across low-voltage and medium-voltage systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation
- Specify and integrate key equipment such as power conversion systems (PCS), battery systems, protection and control components, and related balance-of-plant elements
- Evaluate balance-of-plant (BoP) electrical systems and ensure proper interfacing with the broader project design
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary stakeholders to support construction, commissioning, and technical issue resolution
- Mentor project teams and provide technical guidance throughout design reviews and execution
Requirements
- Experience leading electrical design and technical reviews for utility-scale energy storage, solar, wind, or similar power generation projects
- Strong knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical design practices, including grounding and cable systems
- Proficiency creating and reviewing SLDs and electrical layout documentation
- Ability to specify and integrate PCS and other BESS electrical components and protections
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting engineering through execution
Benefits
- Fully remote work environment
- Opportunity to mentor teams and shape technical design standards for utility-scale BESS projects
- Work on high-impact renewable energy infrastructure
