About the Role
Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) builds the foundational technologies that power Microsoft’s cloud services worldwide. This team supports Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission by delivering trusted infrastructure capabilities across server and data center operations, security, compliance, globalization, and manageability.
As cloud demand grows, we need firmware engineering talent to help deploy new hardware and infrastructure at scale—on time, with high quality, and at the lowest practical cost.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate firmware for cloud infrastructure hardware
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements and implementation plans
- Improve reliability, performance, and maintainability of firmware systems
- Support bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis for firmware issues
- Contribute to tooling, test automation, and continuous improvement efforts
Requirements
- Strong experience with embedded/firmware development
- Proficiency in one or more low-level languages commonly used in firmware (e.g., C/C++)
- Experience with hardware-software integration and debugging
- Knowledge of development, testing, and validation practices for embedded systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and operations partners
