About the Role
MongoDB’s Storage Layer Services (SLS) team is re-architecting the MongoDB cloud storage layer and building the foundation for the next-generation cloud storage architecture. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help design and scale performant, multi-tenant distributed storage services that improve the Atlas storage stack and unlock more efficient customer workloads.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate control plane services that deliver an elastic, multi-tenant storage layer for thousands of database instances.
- Work on distributed systems challenges involved in running large-scale storage services.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to plan, launch, and continuously improve storage capabilities as the roadmap grows.
- Contribute to engineering practices that support reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience building and operating distributed systems.
- Proficiency with backend development and service design for large-scale platforms.
- Experience working in cloud environments and developing multi-tenant or storage-adjacent systems.
- Ability to take ownership of complex problems from design through production.
Work Location
- Based in New York City (hybrid working model) or remotely within the North America region.
