About the Role
Databricks is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help lead the technical direction and development of Unity Catalog’s enterprise-grade data governance capabilities. You’ll work on systems that enable teams to securely discover, access, and collaborate on trusted data and AI assets.
Responsibilities
- Drive architecture and technical design for Unity Catalog governance features
- Lead implementation of scalable services that support secure data discovery and access
- Partner with product, engineering, and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions
- Improve reliability, performance, and operability of governance components
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, reviews, and best practices
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with demonstrated system design experience
- Experience building data platforms, governance, security, or related infrastructure
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language used in backend services
- Ability to lead complex technical efforts from concept through delivery
- Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
