About the Role
Join the Department 440 Payload Launch Control Systems Engineering team supporting the SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA submarine programs. This group develops and sustains specialized, one-of-a-kind submarine systems and test/training assets.
You will lead Government vendors, subcontractors, and internal GDEB teams in the design, development, and maintenance of a complex submarine test and training capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-organizational engineering efforts across vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Analyze lab- and ship-identified issues and drive technical problem resolution
- Conduct technology investigations and evaluate alternative system architectures
- Perform initial system design using “clean sheet” approaches when needed
- Support and conduct technical reviews for major milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, SQT, FAT)
- Maintain and evolve complex submarine test and training systems throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
- Systems engineering experience supporting complex defense programs
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
- Experience with test and evaluation planning and milestone review processes
- Ability to travel within the United States about once per quarter (approximately one week), with potential for increased frequency
