Sheet Metal Engineering CAD Manufacturability (DFM/DFA)

About the Role

Scout Motors is building the next generation of rugged, American-made vehicles with a legacy rooted in exploration, craftsmanship, and respect—for people, customers, and community. We’re seeking a Sheet Metal Engineer Specialist to help design and develop the pickup box with a focus on manufacturability, durability, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Own sheet metal design development for the pickup box, from concept through release for production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into buildable structures and components.
  • Develop and refine part geometry, material selections, and joining approaches to meet performance and cost goals.
  • Support DFM/DFA efforts by identifying risks early and proposing practical design improvements.
  • Assist with prototype builds, engineering change requests, and issue resolution during development and validation.
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs align with tooling and production capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience in sheet metal engineering for automotive or similar industrial applications.
  • Strong knowledge of forming, stamping, and fabrication considerations (tolerances, flanging, bends, and joining methods).
  • Proficiency with CAD and engineering workflows used for design release and collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing partners to improve quality, yield, and manufacturability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail throughout the design lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven brand with deep American roots.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional team environment focused on real-world vehicle performance.
  • Career growth in an engineering organization building modern electrified platforms.
