About the Role
The Special Events Director leads the strategic planning and end-to-end execution of fundraising and community engagement events. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, Development and Club teams, Marketing & Communications, the Board of Governors, and volunteer leadership, you’ll help grow contributed revenue while strengthening public awareness and stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute special events from concept through completion, ensuring exceptional guest experiences
- Partner with internal teams and event committees to develop strategies that meet event revenue goals
- Manage event budgets and oversee financial outcomes, including reporting and performance evaluation
- Coordinate event logistics, production details, and day-of execution
- Oversee sponsorship fulfillment and support recognition plans for partners
- Collaborate on marketing and communications to promote events and maximize attendance and engagement
- Provide recommendations to improve future events based on results and stakeholder feedback
Requirements
- Proven experience planning and executing special events, preferably in a fundraising or nonprofit environment
- Strong budgeting and financial tracking skills
- Excellent project management and logistics coordination abilities
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams, boards, and volunteer leadership
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on guest-centered service
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary starts at $70,000 (potential for higher compensation based on experience)
- Incentive plan up to 10%
- $5,000 sign-on bonus after 90 days
