About the Role
Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the organization’s day-to-day financial operations. This role helps ensure accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and strong internal controls while partnering with staff across the organization to keep our nonprofit running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and support month-end close activities
- Process accounts payable and manage payment workflows
- Assist with accounts receivable tracking and documentation as needed
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for grants and programs
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting schedules
- Contribute to compliance with nonprofit accounting practices and internal policies
- Respond to finance-related requests and help improve accounting processes
Requirements
- Experience in nonprofit or general accounting (1+ years preferred)
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month-end processes
- Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams
