About the Role
Redwood Materials is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team. In this role, you’ll help design mechanical systems that support our mission to build a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries—turning recovered materials into high-performance battery inputs.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts for EPC projects, from concept through detailed design and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction stakeholders to ensure designs are buildable, safe, and cost-effective.
- Develop and review mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical deliverables.
- Support design reviews, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving during execution.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to align on interfaces, installation requirements, and performance expectations.
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical design within industrial or energy-related EPC environments.
- Strong ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams (engineering, procurement, construction).
- Comfort working through design iterations and addressing field or integration feedback.
