About the Role
Join the Quonset Point Work Center Master Planning & Readiness Team as an experienced Systems Engineer supporting spatial layout planning for concurrent VA and CLB Class submarine construction. You will use technical shipbuilding knowledge and computer-based analytics to ensure major modules and work centers are designed to meet operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze spatial layouts for major modules and associated work centers
- Evaluate building and workspace requirements, including space planning, equipment placement, and floor loading capacity
- Assess lifting and handling requirements to support safe and efficient construction operations
- Determine optimal layouts considering work center capacity, supporting equipment, flow paths, access needs, and construction spans
- Coordinate regularly with Operations Management, Ship’s Management, Program Offices, Facilities Master Planning, and Strategic Sourcing
Requirements
- Proven experience in systems engineering and/or technical planning for complex engineering or shipbuilding environments
- Strong analytical skills using computer tools for planning and layout evaluation
- Working knowledge of construction space planning factors such as equipment integration, access, and load considerations
- Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders and communicate findings clearly
