About the Role

Join the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Arthropod-Borne Animal Diseases Research Unit in Manhattan, Kansas. In this Biological Science Technician role, you’ll support research focused on environmental drivers of arthropod-borne livestock diseases and their vectors across space and time—helping develop practical solutions that reduce costs for producers.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, prepare, evaluate, and verify samples, data, and associated records
  • Tabulate, statistically analyze, and summarize data using approved computers and software
  • Maintain, calibrate, and modify laboratory equipment and automated systems used in testing and evaluation
  • Collaborate with scientists across research phases and take technical and operational ownership of assigned activities

Requirements

  • Experience supporting scientific data and sample handling workflows
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and produce clear summaries using authorized tools
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting for automated systems
