About the Role
We’re seeking a part-time Shelter Specialist to support our Emergency Shelter Program during assigned evening shifts. In this role, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming environment for guests while providing supportive, trauma-informed services and essential on-site logistics.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of shelter activities to ensure high-quality, guest-focused, and trauma-informed service delivery
- Support shelter setup and daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment
- Help keep the facility clean and well-maintained during your shifts
- Conduct neighborhood patrols and provide general safety support as needed
- Provide crisis intervention and respond with empathy and trauma-informed care
- Encourage guests and discuss progress toward housing goals
Requirements
- Ability to work assigned evening hours reliably (Monday, Friday, and weekend shifts)
- Experience or comfort working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or crisis situations
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, trauma-informed approach
- Ability to support logistical needs such as shelter setup and facility upkeep
Benefits
