About the Role
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates the infrastructure behind online services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. As a Critical Environment Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll help deliver reliable power and electrical systems that support Microsoft’s global data center footprint.
Our environment spans more than 200 data centers across 32 countries, supporting services for over a billion customers and millions of businesses worldwide. Sustainability and efficiency are core to how we design and operate these systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for critical electrical systems used in data center operations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and improve electrical infrastructure.
- Support operational readiness by contributing to reliability, safety, and performance improvements.
- Apply engineering best practices to help optimize power delivery and reduce environmental impact.
- Drive technical reviews and collaborate on standards, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience in electrical engineering with a focus on critical power or data center environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution, protection, and reliability fundamentals.
- Proficiency with engineering analysis and tools used for system design and evaluation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and vendor stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and disciplined execution in mission-critical settings.
