WGU is seeking a Cyber Security Threat Hunter to help protect systems and data by proactively identifying threats, investigating suspicious activity, and improving our security posture. Responsibilities
- Hunt for potential threats across security telemetry and relevant data sources
- Investigate alerts and anomalies to determine impact, scope, and root cause
- Develop and refine detection ideas, queries, and hunting workflows
- Collaborate with security and engineering teams to reduce risk and strengthen controls
- Document findings and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- Experience with threat detection, incident investigation, or security monitoring
- Strong understanding of cyber threats, attacker behavior, and common tactics
- Working knowledge of security tooling (e.g., SIEM/EDR/log analysis)
- Ability to analyze data, connect indicators, and validate hypotheses
- Clear communication skills and attention to detail
