About the Role
Scout Motors is seeking a Direct Procurement Specialist focused on metal commodities to support sourcing and purchasing activities that help keep our vehicle programs moving. You’ll work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to secure the right materials at the right time—while aligning procurement decisions with quality, cost, and supply continuity goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage direct procurement activities for assigned metal commodity categories, from sourcing through purchase order execution.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to understand material needs, specifications, and demand forecasts.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, including bid/quote comparisons and supplier performance tracking.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, commercial negotiation, and process improvements.
- Monitor market and supply risks (pricing volatility, lead times, availability) and recommend mitigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, documentation standards, and procurement best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles involving direct materials or commodities.
- Strong understanding of commodity supply dynamics, pricing factors, and supplier management.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed sourcing decisions using cost, quality, and delivery inputs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with purchase order processes and procurement documentation.
