Director, Datacenter Operations (Engineering & Operations) | Onsite in Memphis, TN

About the Role

SpaceX is building technologies to make humanity’s future among the stars possible—and xAI is advancing hyperscale AI computing to support that mission. We are seeking a Director, Datacenter Operations to lead the engineering and day-to-day operations of xAI’s hyperscale AI compute facilities in Memphis, TN.

In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of mission-critical infrastructure, guiding efforts from early design through development, construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end datacenter infrastructure delivery and operational performance for hyperscale AI compute facilities
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams across structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
• Drive strategy and execution for liquid cooling, power generation, and high-capacity power distribution
• Oversee high-capacity fiber optic network planning and integration
• Ensure reliability, safety, and operational excellence across mission-critical environments
• Guide technical planning and continuous improvement to meet performance and uptime targets

Requirements

• Leadership experience spanning both engineering delivery and operations for large-scale data center environments
• Strong technical understanding of power, electrical distribution, cooling systems, and controls
• Experience with fiber optic network infrastructure and high-performance connectivity
• Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary teams and execute complex programs
• Track record of delivering critical infrastructure through design, construction, commissioning, and operations
