About the Role
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) is seeking a Director to lead media relations and communications efforts that advance our mission. You’ll work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment supporting breakthroughs across our flagship nonprofit organizations, including Biohub and Learning Commons.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute media relations strategies to elevate CZI’s impact and priorities
- Partner with internal stakeholders to shape messaging, narratives, and communications plans
- Build strong relationships with journalists and media outlets to support timely, accurate coverage
- Coordinate cross-functional communications activities across programs and initiatives
- Ensure communications reflect urgency, integrity, and optimism while maintaining brand consistency
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in media relations and/or communications
- Strong understanding of news cycles, media strategy, and message development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across teams and manage competing priorities
- Experience working with science, education, technology, or related subject matter is a plus
