Director of Payroll (People) | Strategic Leadership | Multi-State Operations

About the Role

As the Director of Payroll, you’ll provide strategic leadership and day-to-day operational management for payroll across WelbeHealth. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Benefits, and external vendors to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and scalable as the organization grows.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll administration for a multi-entity, multi-state organization
• Drive continuous improvement across payroll processes, controls, and systems
• Modernize payroll operations and support enterprise system and operational transformation efforts
• Establish scalable infrastructure that supports continued organizational expansion
• Ensure payroll compliance through effective programs, governance, and cross-functional collaboration
• Partner with stakeholders to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in payroll operations
• Collaborate with external vendors to support payroll delivery and service quality

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience managing payroll operations across multiple entities and/or states
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance and controls
• Experience leading process modernization and system improvements
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including HR, Finance, Accounting, and Legal
• Track record of building scalable payroll infrastructure and operational best practices
