About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next generation of rugged electric vehicles with a legacy of exploration and hard work. We’re seeking a Director to lead Product Cost Excellence and Value Engineering—driving cost competitiveness while protecting quality, performance, and customer value across our vehicle programs.
Responsibilities
- Own and advance the product cost excellence strategy across vehicle systems, assemblies, and components.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising safety, reliability, or design intent.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to establish cost targets and execution plans.
- Develop and track KPIs for cost performance, savings realization, and program health.
- Facilitate cross-functional reviews and governance to ensure changes are prioritized, justified, and implemented effectively.
- Support sourcing and supplier collaboration to drive material, process, and design-to-cost improvements.
- Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to leadership and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading cost, value engineering, or design-to-cost efforts in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost modeling, BOM/engineering change impacts, and savings validation.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and work effectively with suppliers.
- Demonstrated experience using structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex trade-offs clearly.
