About the Role
Action for Children is seeking an Engagement Specialist to support our Central Intake program, the first step into the Help Me Grow system of supports sponsored by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY). In this role, you’ll help families navigate services by understanding their needs, confirming eligibility, and connecting them to the right community resources.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of contact for families entering the Help Me Grow system through Central Intake
- Assess family needs and guide next steps based on eligibility and available supports
- Coordinate referrals to appropriate programs and resources
- Maintain accurate records and follow program processes and documentation requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth handoffs and timely service connections
Requirements
- Experience working directly with families, caregivers, or community partners
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfort working with sensitive situations and maintaining a supportive, respectful approach
- Ability to manage information accurately and follow established procedures
- Commitment to mission-driven work supporting children and families
