About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next generation of rugged, American-made vehicles—and we’re looking for an OBD Lead Engineer to help define and deliver OBD functionality on UDS. In this role, you’ll lead technical execution to ensure reliable diagnostics, compliance readiness, and a great customer experience across our electrified powertrains.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and verification of OBD features operating over UDS.
- Own technical requirements translation into engineering tasks and deliverables.
- Collaborate with software, systems, and validation teams to integrate diagnostic services end-to-end.
- Drive root-cause analysis for diagnostic issues and guide corrective actions through release.
- Support compliance-focused development by ensuring OBD behavior aligns with applicable standards and test expectations.
- Maintain documentation and provide technical guidance to team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience with OBD/diagnostics and UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services).
- Strong understanding of automotive diagnostic concepts such as DTCs, freeze frames, readiness monitors, and diagnostic communication flows.
- Proficiency with embedded software development and diagnostic tooling used for validation and troubleshooting.
- Experience leading technical work, coordinating across teams, and communicating clearly with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant automotive standards and diagnostic test approaches.
