About the Role
In this Patient Care Coordinator (Charge Nurse) role, you’ll help lead day-to-day nursing operations by coordinating shift activities, supporting staff, and delivering direct patient care. You’ll ensure continuity of care and that unit workflows align with established policies to promote safe, high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor shift activities to support efficient unit operations and keep patient care plans on track
- Plan staffing assignments based on patient acuity and assign duties to professional and ancillary team members
- Provide direct nursing care and perform responsibilities of a staff RN as needed
- Assess patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs to support appropriate care planning
- Evaluate outcomes of care within the assigned unit and adjust activities to improve results
- Assist with developing and implementing unit-specific procedures and policies
Requirements
- Experience as a registered nurse in an acute care or emergency setting
- Ability to lead and coordinate staff assignments based on acuity and clinical priorities
- Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
- Knowledge of nursing care standards, documentation, and unit policies
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
