In this Principal Software Engineer role focused on the control path, you’ll help design and evolve core systems that coordinate security intelligence and service behavior at scale. You’ll work in an environment that values impact, constructive debate, and continuous innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of control-plane software components that support Zscaler’s security platform
- Drive technical direction for reliability, performance, and scalability across critical services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, robust system improvements
- Identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot production issues, and improve observability and operational readiness
- Mentor engineers and raise the quality bar through thoughtful reviews and engineering best practices
Requirements
- Strong experience building distributed systems and backend services
- Proficiency with one or more modern programming languages commonly used in large-scale systems
- Deep understanding of networking concepts and how control-plane logic interacts with data-plane behavior
- Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and building for high availability
- Track record of delivering complex software features end-to-end
