About the Role
Microsoft’s Specialized Cloud team is looking for a Principal Engineering Manager to lead teams that build and secure cloud-scale services for highly sensitive, mission-critical environments. You’ll set technical direction, strengthen engineering execution, and deliver secure, compliant, and highly reliable platform capabilities for both internal security systems and customer-facing cloud offerings.
Responsibilities
- Translate strategic priorities into clear execution plans and measurable delivery outcomes
- Lead and grow engineering teams by coaching managers and senior engineers
- Drive the engineering bar through best practices in architecture, quality, and operational excellence
- Operate at the intersection of distributed systems, security, compliance, and live-site operations
- Ensure services meet requirements for sovereign, regulated, and mission-critical cloud environments
Requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and setting technical direction
- Strong background in distributed systems and large-scale cloud service delivery
- Experience with security and compliance requirements for regulated environments
- Track record of improving organizational health and engineering effectiveness
- Ability to balance product outcomes with operational reliability in live environments
