About the Role
Samaritan Daytop Village is hiring a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) to help clients build job readiness and move toward meaningful employment. In this role, you’ll provide both individual and group counseling, support career planning, and help connect participants to the community and resources they need to succeed.
We serve more than 38,000 New Yorkers each year through transitional housing, community-based services, and residential and outpatient programs across 60+ locations throughout New York State.
Responsibilities
- Conduct vocational rehabilitation counseling to identify strengths, goals, and employment barriers
- Deliver individual and group career guidance, including job readiness and planning
- Coordinate referrals and connect clients with community resources that support employment outcomes
- Partner with state job liaisons and local employers to expand hiring and training pathways
- Maintain appropriate documentation and collaborate with internal teams to support client progress
Requirements
- Master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, social work, mental health counseling, or a related human services field
- Credential(s) such as CRC, LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC (or equivalent, as applicable)
- Commitment to client-centered counseling and goal-oriented employment support
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and community partners
