About the Role

Gritter Francona is seeking a Scriptwriter to research, develop, and write evidence-based scripts for animated educational videos supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for PTSD. You will turn scientific findings, clinical guidance, and subject matter expert input into clear, accurate, and accessible storytelling for Veterans, trauma survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and revise scripts for animated educational videos on trauma, PTSD, evidence-based treatments, and co-occurring conditions
  • Translate scientific and clinical information into plain language that is engaging and appropriate for public audiences
  • Create storylines, dialogue, narration, scene descriptions, and visual cues that keep audiences informed and interested
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, clinicians, project managers, government stakeholders, and production teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with approved guidance
  • Maintain a serious, compassionate, and hopeful tone while avoiding stigmatizing or triggering language
  • Ensure content is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and inclusive of diverse experiences and communities
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders across multiple review and approval cycles
  • Coordinate with storyboard artists, animators, voice talent, and production staff so scripts support effective visual storytelling
  • Structure scripts for animation timing, pacing, narration, and visual transitions
  • Provide supporting documentation, revision history, production notes, and version control records as required
  • Follow applicable federal plain language guidance, accessibility standards, and project quality requirements
  • Support educational outreach by creating content suitable for digital media and public awareness initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Media Studies, Public Health, or a related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience writing scripts or educational content aligned to the needs of this work
  • Proven experience creating scripts for video, animation, multimedia, or other educational communications
