About the Role
Pansophic Learning is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and services that power our learning solutions. You’ll focus on backend development, API design, and system integrations while helping ensure performance, reliability, and long-term scalability.
This role reports to the Software Development Manager and partners closely with Software Engineers, QA/Test Engineers, and cross-functional teams. You’ll be expected to deliver high-quality solutions on time and continuously improve backend architecture and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support learning platforms
- Build and evolve APIs and backend integrations with an emphasis on reliability and performance
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to deliver features efficiently
- Improve backend architecture, tooling, and development workflows over time
- Contribute proactively with ideas that strengthen current and future systems
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience designing and implementing APIs and services
- Proven ability to build scalable systems with a focus on reliability and maintainability
- Experience integrating backend systems and collaborating across engineering teams
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and continuous improvement
Work Location & Schedule
- Onsite role: 4 days per week in office in Tysons Corner, VA
