About the Role
Scout Motors is seeking a Senior Counsel to help shape and protect our privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance programs. In this role, you’ll provide practical legal guidance that supports responsible innovation while reducing risk across products, data practices, and technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Advise on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance matters, including regulatory compliance and internal policy development
- Support cross-functional teams in interpreting and applying legal requirements to product and platform decisions
- Review and negotiate vendor, technology, and data-related agreements
- Assist with incident readiness and response planning from a legal and governance perspective
- Help implement governance frameworks for AI use cases, including documentation and risk controls
- Collaborate with engineering, security, product, and compliance stakeholders to drive consistent decision-making
Requirements
- J.D. and active attorney licensure in the United States
- Significant experience advising on privacy and cybersecurity legal matters
- Experience with AI governance, AI risk management, and/or related regulatory requirements
- Strong understanding of data protection and security concepts, including common regulatory obligations
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to translate legal requirements into clear guidance for technical teams
