Senior Interaction Designer (UX) | Hybrid | Intuitive Surgical Ion Team

About the Role

Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to help shape human-centered experiences for the Ion platform. In this role, you’ll design safe, effective, and user-friendly physical and digital interfaces that support healthcare innovation.

As a senior member of the Ion team, you’ll define and craft interaction elements across multiple touchpoints, partnering closely with designers, Human Factors engineers, clinical experts, and software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead interaction design activities from early concepts through final design and implementation
• Design platform experiences spanning robotic control, medical imaging, data visualization, and other digital workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on usability, safety, and user needs
• Contribute to the development of digitally-enabled solutions used by clinicians and patients
• Extend design thinking across multiple touchpoints to ensure consistency and clarity

Requirements

• Strong experience in interaction design for digital products and complex workflows
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including engineering and Human Factors
• Experience designing end-to-end product experiences (concept through implementation)
• Comfort working across areas such as control interfaces, visualization, and image/data-driven systems
