Senior/Lead Java Back-End Developer (Spring) | Hybrid/Onsite in New York, NY

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior or Lead Java back-end developer to design and deliver high-quality server-side features for our web products. You’ll work primarily with the Spring Framework and help drive reliable, maintainable implementations across our backend systems.

This role is focused on back-end development, but we also value strong understanding of adjacent technologies such as front-end basics (JavaScript/TypeScript) and DevOps/infrastructure practices. You’ll take ownership from development through testing and support, ensuring work is completed with clear communication and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring
• Deliver production-ready code with appropriate testing and quality practices
• Collaborate with a small team to plan, implement, and release features
• Provide support during testing and post-release phases to ensure stability
• Contribute to system improvements across data stores and caching layers
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly while working independently

Requirements

• Extensive experience building back-end web applications with Java and Spring
• Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Experience with caching and performance tooling (e.g., Redis)
• Working knowledge of related technologies such as DevOps/infrastructure and basic front-end concepts (JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to follow work through delivery
