Senior Product Counsel (Product Legal) | On-Site

About the Role

Verkada is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to join our Product Legal team and support Verkada’s fast-growing legal organization. Reporting into the AGC for Product, you’ll partner closely with product, engineering, supply chain, and marketing teams to help deliver privacy-sensitive, AI-powered physical security products while managing legal risk across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for product, engineering, supply chain, and marketing on development, marketing, sale, and compliance needs
• Advise leadership on product-related legal issues and help design practical compliance programs and risk mitigation strategies across jurisdictions
• Translate complex, evolving regulatory requirements into clear guidance that accelerates product delivery
• Improve product launch processes and protocols to ensure new offerings are properly protected and compliant
• Act as a subject matter expert on product regulatory topics, including import/export and government procurement requirements (e.g., NDAA/TAA/BAA)
• Build scalable internal controls, risk monitoring, and audit frameworks for OFAC, ITAR, and emerging AI-related export controls
• Monitor global regulatory and legal developments and assess impacts to current and future products

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-approved law school (or equivalent) and active membership in at least one state bar
• 6+ years of legal experience, ideally including regulatory, product counseling, IP, marketing, and transactional work (with 2+ years in-house preferred)
• Experience advising multinational, fast-growing global companies, preferably on both hardware and software offerings
• Proven experience creating and implementing compliance programs and policies for hardware/software products, including alarm-related offerings
• Expertise in one or more areas: federal procurement requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, FIPs, NDAA), alarm/fire licensing and regulatory compliance, and/or domestic/EU connected device regulatory compliance
• Strong legal and business judgment with the ability to provide concise, practical advice
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
