Senior Product Owner (Accounting & ERP) | Remote Contract (Temp)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Product Owner to help shape CustomBooks™—our cloud ERP platform. In this role, you’ll bring a strong understanding of accounting and inventory workflows, translating customer needs into practical product solutions that make day-to-day operations easier for partners and business owners.

You’ll partner closely with the Product Director, Product Analysts/Owners/Managers, QA, Customer Success, Sales, and multiple software engineering teams to define what we build next and why.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market and industry research to identify customer needs and product opportunities
• Perform competitive analysis and translate insights into product direction
• Validate bug fixes and evaluate new features and improvements across prototypes and development environments
• Use Jira and Zoho Desk to research, analyze, and prioritize customer-reported issues (tickets, filters, dashboards, and metrics)
• Compile scope and support planning for upcoming work
• Run customer interviews and discussions to gather requirements and confirm product direction
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine product design and UI/UX decisions

Requirements

• Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally in accounting, ERP, or inventory-focused software
• Strong understanding of accounting and inventory concepts and how they map to software workflows
• Proficiency with product discovery and validation methods (research, interviews, competitive analysis)
• Hands-on experience working with Jira and customer support/feedback tools (e.g., Zoho Desk)
• Knowledge of UI/UX principles and ability to help guide product design decisions
