About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next generation of rugged electric vehicles with a deep respect for people, community, and the legacy of American innovation. We’re seeking a Senior Staff Backend Software Engineer to design and deliver backend systems that power our digitized, electrified experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of backend services and APIs
- Drive reliability, scalability, and performance improvements across production systems
- Partner with product, frontend, and platform teams to deliver end-to-end features
- Mentor engineers through technical reviews, design guidance, and best practices
- Own backend components from design through deployment and ongoing iteration
Requirements
- Proven experience building and operating backend systems in production
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with modern backend frameworks
- Expertise in data modeling, APIs, and distributed systems principles
- Track record of leading technical initiatives and influencing design decisions
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with high ownership
